Type<\/strong> of<\/strong> visa:<\/strong> “D” visa for long-term stays longer than 90 days.<\/p>\n

What it’s for: <\/strong>it allows foreigners who intend to settle in our country and can support themselves independently, without working, to enter Italy for residence purposes.<\/p>\n

REQUIREMENTS<\/strong>: Must be submitted following the strict order below:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. National<\/strong> visa<\/strong> application<\/strong> form<\/strong><\/a> duly completed in all fields and signed.<\/li>\n
  2. Two photographs <\/strong>(3,5 cm x 4 cm), white background in color (identical and recent), one of which must be pasted to the form in the corresponding box.<\/li>\n
  3. Valid passport<\/strong> (valid for at least 3 months beyond the duration of the visa) with at least two free pages and a plain copy of <\/strong>the passport <\/strong>(only the page of the passport containing the holder’s personal information).<\/li>\n
  4. Payment<\/strong> of<\/strong> consular<\/strong> fees<\/strong> in<\/strong> cash<\/strong> (payable on the day of the appointment, see Consular Fees Table<\/a>)<\/li>\n
  5. ID card<\/strong> – for foreigners c\u00e9dula de extranjer\u00eda or carne de residencia<\/em>, valid (in both cases only an enlarged, legible copy).<\/li>\n
  6. Travel<\/strong> medical<\/strong> assistance<\/strong> insurance<\/strong> valid<\/strong> for<\/strong> the<\/strong> Schengen<\/strong> area<\/strong> with the following coverages:\n
      \n
    • Medical care for illness: minimum coverage of 30,000.<\/li>\n
    • Medical care for accidents: minimum coverage of 30,000.<\/li>\n
    • Repatriation: minimum coverage of 30,000 euros.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The insurance company must have a representative\/office in Europe. Travel insurance cannot have a deductible. Insurance must be valid for the duration of the visa (original and copy). NOTE<\/strong>: Insurance must be made with agencies within the country of residence or directly in Italy, no reservations and\/or purchases made through internet sites will be accepted. Insurance must be in the name of the applicant.<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Availability<\/strong> of<\/strong> housing<\/strong> to elect in residence, ownership or rent with a contract already signed directly in Italy (original and copy).<\/li>\n
      2. Savings and\/or checking account statements <\/strong>for the past six months, as well as any domestic and international credit cards (original and copy)<\/li>\n
      3. Supporting documentation and ample autonomous, stable and regular economic resources, the continuity of which can reasonably be assumed over time, from sources other than employment activities.<\/li>\n
      4. Booking<\/strong> a<\/strong> round-trip flight<\/strong> with final destination Italy. If applying for a type D visa, the reservation can also be a one-way. NOTE<\/strong>: Airline reservations must be made directly by the airline or a travel agency in the country of residence or directly in Italy (reservations made online are not accepted).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        NOTES:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • The Embassy has not authorized any agency or intermediary to process visas.<\/li>\n
        • The absence of any of the above documents will result in the counter rejecting the visa application (which does not mean that the visa was rejected, but that the file could not be received).<\/li>\n
        • The Embassy reserves the right to request other documents it deems necessary.<\/li>\n
        • Submission of the required documentation does not necessarily result in the granting of a visa.<\/li>\n
        • The visa is a concession, so even by submitting all the required documents it can be granted or refused<\/li>\n
