In 2026, elections will be held to renew the Committees of Italians Abroad (Com.It.Es.).<\/p>\n
The Com.It.Es. are representative bodies that act on behalf of Italian citizens living abroad in their relations with Embassies and Consulates, while promoting their integration into their countries of residence. They also play an important role in preserving the historical memory of Italian emigration and promoting the contribution of Italian communities within the societies in which they operate.<\/p>\n
Com.It.Es. may be established in consular districts with more than 3,000 Italian citizens registered with AIRE. They are composed of 12 members in communities with up to 100,000 Italian citizens, and 18 members in communities exceeding that threshold. Committee members serve a five-year term.<\/p>\n
Voting in the Com.It.Es. elections takes place by postal ballot, and is open to Italian citizens who have been residing for at least six months in the relevant Consular District.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reaffirms the importance of participating in these elections, which represent a key opportunity to strengthen the representation of the many Italian communities living abroad. Com.It.Es. serve as a constant point of reference for Italian citizens overseas by representing their interests, addressing their needs, and promoting their role within the local communities.<\/p>\n
