CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED BY THE ITALIAN GOVERNMENT TO FOREIGN STUDENTS AND ITALIAN CITIZENS RESIDING ABROAD (IRE) FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2026–2027

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers scholarships to foreign students and Italian citizens residing abroad (IRE) for the 2026–2027 academic year, with the aim of promoting cooperation in the cultural, scientific, and technological fields, supporting the international projection of Italy’s economic system, and fostering the dissemination of knowledge of the Italian language and culture (Ref. Law 288/55 and subsequent amendments and additions). The scholarship covers only attendance at courses held in Italy.

The available scholarships are:

  • 9 months (standard scholarships) for Master’s Degree programs, Higher Education in Arts, Music and Dance (AFAM) courses, PhD programs, and research projects, from 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027;
  • 3 months (Italophony scholarships) exclusively for intensive courses in Italian language and culture, from 1 January 2027 to 30 September 2027.
