Healthcare
Through the Conventions stipulated by the Consulates with hospitals and other institutions, the poor Italian citizens, residing in the district, can take advantage of outpatient care, hospital admissions and pharmaceutical assistance.
Ad hoc agreements can be concluded with institutions that can take care of elderly and destitute countrymen who, not being self-sufficient, need continuous nursing and psychological assistance.
Economic assistance
The Consulate may grant a subsidy to an Italian national permanently resident in the consular district who is in a situation of proven exceptional need, such as a delay in the arrival of the government assistance allowance, disability, special medical conditions involving special medical, dietary or pharmaceutical costs not covered by local care, etc. The indigent compatriot will have to prove, if necessary, his condition of exceptional necessity by exhibiting the documentation that will be requested. Grants may not exceed the upper limit set by the ministerial provisions.
This type of assistance also includes the free issue or renewal of the Italian passport to citizens in financial difficulties.
The Italian citizen in transit who has suffered the theft of money or other documents can also request the provision of a loan with promise of return to the Italian State. The granting of the loan is subject to the evaluation of the Consulate.
