Italian Workers’ Sacrifice Day – 69th anniversary of the Marcinelle tragedy

August 8 marks the “Day of Sacrifice of Italian Labor in the World,” on the anniversary of the Marcinelle mining accident in 1956, to honor and recognize the sacrifice of so many Italian citizens who migrated abroad and to commemorate the tragic death of the 262 miners—including 136 Italians—who lost their lives in the Bois du Cazier mine in Belgium.

Attached is the message to Italian citizens abroad from the Honorable Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
