The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) provides grants upon application for:
- the funding of travel and accommodation expenses for researchers, professors, experts, cultural figures and cultural operators—Italian or foreign nationals residing in Italy for at least two years—who are invited abroad by foreign universities or cultural institutions;
- contributions to travel and accommodation expenses for researchers, professors, experts, cultural figures and cultural operators—foreign nationals or Italian citizens residing abroad—invited by Italian universities or cultural institutions, with the aim of promoting collaboration and joint research programs.
Eligible Applicants
- Italian and foreign nationals residing in Italy for at least two years, invited by foreign universities or cultural institutions for study or research purposes;
- foreign nationals and Italian citizens residing abroad, invited by Italian universities or cultural institutions for study or research purposes.
Amount of the Grant
The grant consists of a flat-rate daily allowance covering travel and accommodation expenses: €250 per day for stays of up to 5 days; €50 per day from the 6th to the 10th day, for a maximum total of €1,500 per mission.
No funding is provided beyond the 10th day of stay. Only the days of actual cultural and/or research activities are considered for calculation purposes. Grants are awarded subject to the availability of funds.
How to Apply
Applications must be sent to comm.ambpanama@esteri.it and copied to DGCE Office VI (dgce06.missioni@esteri.it). The grant is valid for activities taking place between 1 January and 15 November 2026. Please note that funding cannot be granted for missions occurring after this date.
Grant recipients must submit the following documents to comm.ambpanama@esteri.it within 10 days after the end of the mission: final report on the activities carried out (in Italian or English); travel documents (tickets and boarding passes); certificate of stay issued by the host institution.

Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on:
- the applicant’s CV;
- the potential medium- and long-term impact of the mission in terms of cultural/scientific projects and partnerships between Italian and foreign institutions;
- the prestige of the institutions involved;
- the principle of rotation among grant beneficiaries.
