On the occasion of 8 August, the “Day of the Sacrifice of Italian Labour in the World” is observed, commemorating the 1956 Marcinelle mining disaster, in order to acknowledge and honour the sacrifice of the many Italian citizens who emigrated abroad and to remember the tragic loss of the 262 miners — including 136 Italians — who lost their lives in the Bois du Cazier mine in Belgium.
Attached is the Message to Italian citizens abroad from the Honourable Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
