Legalisation of documents
The Republic of Panama has signed the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 on the abolition of the legalization of foreign public documents. The need to legalize acts and documents issued by foreign authorities is replaced by another formality: the affixing of the “apostille”. Therefore, local acts can be legalized by affixing the Apostille to the document itself, at the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores in the manner published on the institutional site.
Translation
General information on the translation of any document or document to be submitted to the Italian authorities is given below.
In order to be enforced before the Italian authorities, documents and documents issued by foreign authorities, except those drawn up on multilingual models provided for by international conventions, must be translated into Italian.
For documents issued in Spanish and English we inform you that this Embassy of Italy accepts translations into Italian made by authorized public translators registered in the registers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama, whose complete list is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (translators)
If you are interested in translating documents, please contact one of the translators on the list. The translations made by the authorized public translator must be declared in conformity with the original by the same translator, who will add at the bottom of the translation his own qualification, which, under his responsibility, declares the translation perfectly in accordance with the original text and its subscription.
The signature of the public translator must subsequently be legalized by the Apostille, in order to be able to present the complete document of translation and legalization to the competent Italian authorities.
