Appointment information

For urgent requests (loss/theft of passport, E.T.D. and declaration of existence in life) write to consolare.panama@esteri.it

It is recommended that users carefully consult the different sections of the Embassy’s website for detailed information on the required documentation for each consular service requested. It is also reminded that the Embassy does not use external collaborators, agencies, or intermediaries for managing consular procedures, and that the booking service in the Prenot@Mi system is free of charge.

It is essential that the booked appointment corresponds exactly to the type of service requested. If an appointment is made for a service different from the one for which the request is made, the user will not be received.

To book an appointment, the user must register on the Prenot@Mi portal, providing the requested information, submitting an email address, choosing a password, and selecting “AMBASSY OF ITALY IN PANAMA” in the Consulate box. (It is recommended to use the Edge browser).

Once registration is completed, the user can access the portal with the email address and password used during registration. This will allow them to choose not only the service but also the date and time of the appointment from the available options.

On the Prenot@Mi portal, individual or multiple appointments can be booked, as long as they are available. It is clarified that multiple appointments are only applicable for minors and must be booked directly by one of the parents.

When the user receives the email with the proposed appointment, they must confirm it by accessing the Prenot@Mi portal in the “My appointments” section within the date specified in the message.

The proposed appointment cannot be modified, and in the event of non-confirmation or cancellation, a new appointment will need to be booked.

The appointment must be confirmed by the user between 10 and 3 days before the scheduled date, by accessing the Prenot@Mi portal and clicking on the “My appointments” section. If the appointment is not confirmed, the system will AUTOMATICALLY delete it, and it will be available to other users. In this case, the user will not be able to access the Embassy.

The consular services that must be booked on the Prenot@Mi portal are as follows:

  • Passports and CIE  (Electronic Identity Card);
  • Consular services (for civil act registrations, marriage publication requests, certificate issuance, translation legalization, signature authentication, “atto di assenso” authorization acts, extension of the validity of the Italian driver’s license, certificate of existence in life, mortuary passports, etc.);
  • Citizenship by descending descent of italian ancestor;
  • Citizenship by descent – children of italian age;
  • Citizenship by marriage;
  • Visas (schengen and Nationals);

Appointments for Declarations of Value: Please see the section Declaration of value – Ambasciata d’Italia Panama (esteri.it) (esteri.it)

It is essential that Italian citizens present a valid Italian identity document for any request at this Consular Office.

NOTE: Interested parties are informed that, although the Embassy is aware of the extreme difficulties users face when booking an appointment, it cannot assist in making one. In fact, the online booking system is centrally automated and cannot be influenced. The availability of dates or time slots depends on demand from users.

Providing consular services without an appointment

Italian citizens and foreign citizens in possession of an Italian pension, for the related competencies of the certificate of existence in life, can go directly to the Embassy of Italy in Panama without a prior appointment only during public opening hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM; Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.

Documentation to be presented:

  1. Valid Italian passport or identity card (valid identity document for foreigners)
  2. Form issued by the competent authority (Citibank form, INPS, etc.)

If the certificate of existence in life is requested for reasons other than pension-related matters, it is informed that this certificate is issued only to Italian citizens registered with AIRE at this consular district and is free of charge.
