The Civil Status records the essential events related to the citizen: birth, marriage, death, divorce, citizenship.
All Italian citizens have the obligation to notify the Public Administration in a timely manner any changes related to their marital status and the composition of their family unit.
To this end, it is necessary to present the relevant documents formally perfected (and translated into Italian) at the Consular Office of residence (only by appointment online through the portal “Prenot@mi” at the Consulate responsible for the place where the event occurred, or directly at the Italian Municipality of origin).
In addition, the Consulate’s Registry Office assists citizens resident in the constituency and registered with the AIRE with regard to:
- transmission of divorce rulings;
- transmission of adoption decisions;
- marriage publications;
- change of name or surname
Important: In the event that the applicant has changed his address of residence IT IS NECESSARY TO UPDATE it through the Fast It platform, also for the purpose of transcribing civil status documents. If the address does not correspond to the one in the service request form, the transcription of the document will not be made.
